Mousefolk Warrior
Wildspire Miniatures
Day 4 and I’m getting nostalgic for Redwall with this one. Kept the needle sword bent since it felt appropriate with the size.

I would say this was fun to paint but that would be a lie. It was not. It was a pain in the rear in end.
First, I laid down some nice yellows for his fur, light for the body then a darker color for the main. Then I washed it with sepia and it looked okay but shifted the tones to both being the same. Then I highlighted and noticed I did a terrible job with the wash. It wasn’t even. Tried to fix it, it looked terrible. Strip. Restart. Try again. Repeat the process making the same mistakes (not kidding). Set him aside forever. Decided yesterday I needed to finish him. I am calling this done. The only thing I am happy about is his face and the tiny skulls on the backs of his hands. The detail on the sashing didn’t stand out well. It was good shading practice but meh.
He’s going up for sale today on eBay. Please take him away from me so I never have to look at him again. https://www.ebay.com/usr/willowwind78

This Very Good Doggo is from the Wildspire Miniatures Animals Set [at amazon], not the Cats and Catacombs collection, but I've painted him up for them because they needed a pet!

Today in miniature painting: I finished up Pukei-Pukei and Jyuratodus!
They were very fun to paint, especially after I picked up a box of Vallejo Game paints on the cheap, which really went a lot farther for a lot less product.
Aside from the four hunters, I only have two actual monsters left to paint in the Wildspire Wastes set: Diablos and Black Diablos. I think they'll be fun, since they're very big and have simple color schemes with some wear and tear on them.
Miniature painting is very fun!! (except for when i get a paint color wrong lol)

Wildspire Miniatures
Hope everyone has had a happy holiday season. Had this guy ready to go up on Xmas but I got a cold before taking photos. Doesn’t look all that festive to me anyway.

Wildspire Spellblades has several enchanted objects in it, including this enchanted sheet.
I suppose I could have filled in the scratches but I did not. Too late now, I would have to strip and redo the whole thing and I am not going to do that. Let this be a How Not to Paint Miniatures lesson in painting. Like mould lines, you will regret if you don't take care of them. Just do it. It's worth the time. Otherwise, you get this.

Animated Cauldron
Thank goodness this cauldron has an eye to see where it is going! What is that stuff? Acid? Polymorph juice? Oh, now how much fun would that be! Save versus polymorph! Animals? Objects? Other people? What does it change you into? If you're not writing a campaign right now with this enchanted cauldron in it, you better get on it before the fun, danger, and entertainment vanishes, or someone else buys this thing off my site before you get to.
Someone is turned into a tree stump, another party member becomes a candle... suddenly you need to buy this miniature too...

Bobbert Hillfilly
I called him a Gnome Illusionist. He sold almost immediately on my eBay site. Obviously, I should have charged more for him... hopefully he has gone to a loving home who appreciates him. Good thing I'm not out for profits, just sustainability.
At any rate, this guy was fun to paint. I struggled with that eye on his robe. It looks WAY better in the pamphlet than it does on the miniature. The indentations made it difficult to get colors where I wanted them to be. Not sure why the illustrated one has buck teeth. I think of gnomes as having big noses not big teeth but everyone has their own ideas, most of them cute.
Incidentally, I am currently in a seminary course called Introduction to Worship. Right now. It's online and I am paying as little attention as possible. Not overly interesting today. Too many things on my mind. So, I am trying to make sure I've got posts lined up for a little while.
I should probably check to see how many more I've got queued up, I must be running low by now. I can't paint a miniature a day. I haven't painted in almost a week. Between all the funerals, seminary, homebound visits, appointment season, LPC Continuing education credits, Minecraft and K-Dramas, I just haven't the time. Incidentally if I ever learn to understand Mandarin and Korean it will really free me up to paint so I don't have to read the subtitles.
Oh well, life is good. I paint when I can. I sell what I can. I try to entertain those who take the time to read my ramblings when I can. I thank my loyal reader, possibly readers but probably just one for taking the time to acknowledge my words, my paint and my existence. Thank you!

A Day in the Life of Painting
Finished all these in one day! No, I didn't paint them all in one day, I just finished these 6 miniatures today. Very proud of myself. It has been so long since I was having so much fun I couldn't stop painting. I painted until I had to stop and get ready for company.
Finished up some incredible pieces which I have also put up for sale on my eBay page. Check them and all the others out! https://www.ebay.com/usr/willowwind78
I was admiring the variety of minis I completed. Board Games, Tabletop RPG, a Snowman... too bad I didn't finish up any of those Star Wars Miniatures I've got hanging about just waiting for me to tackle.

So cute. Don't ask me how much time I put into detailing. Let's just say there's a reason I haven't been posting daily between this little guy (yes, he's male) and the fauns.

Attacking or Being Arrested?
If we put him in front of the measurement board, obviously there was a snowball assault on someone. But if we remove the background... yeh... still being arrested. Rough mug shot for mister snowman.
This little guy is from the Wildspire Holiday collection. I decided I needed to paint something simple and I sure am glad I did. I love how he turned out! Especially with the added environmental snow.

Wildspire Heroes and Animals: Troll King
Just so much fun to paint. This troll king and his victim are amazing. The detail is great. He's big but proportional to other miniatures he is a troll after all.
Painted him and his counterpart mostly with the Vallejo Malefic Flesh Set. You'll see them both together in a post at some point. I think I have my queue set to randomize so who know which one will come out first. You can't see it too well in this photo but there is an egg in his crown. Kudos to the artist that came up with this.

Gargoyle
Such a sweet little face. "I will smile at you ,then kill you."
This comes from Wildspire Spellblades & Enchanted Object Collection available on Amazon. They do require a little bit of cleanup to get the mold lines off. Most can be painted as is, but some do require a small amount of disassembly to reach certain areas of the miniature.
Looking at the Wildspire illustration as you can see it below, the biggest difference between the two that makes mine adorable and theirs evil is the green eyes. Maybe I'll do the eyes green on the next one and see if that makes a difference.
As usual, this one is for sale on my eBay page at willowwind78 on eBay. Support my hobby! Very reasonable prices not at all reflective of my time, talent, or the resources I invest into them. I want them to go to people who enjoy them so I charge as little as I can. Feel free to offer me more than what I am asking.

These Wildspire Heroes and Animals miniatures are some of my favorites. They aren't as cheap as the Path Gaming or Monster Protector miniatures you've been seeing if you're following me. If not... you need to follow me. They have more detail and incredible whimsical charm. Frying pan weapon. Pot lid shield. A half orc chef? Amazing. Makes you want to smile and check out what he's cooking in the kitchen as well.
Of course, he could be yours if he's still for sale:
